Entrance Procedure

Michaelhouse is non-sectarian in its admission policy.

Entry at E Block (Grade 8) level is determined by previous academic performance, a personal interview with the Rector, a copy of the most recent school report and a confidential report from the applicant's Headmaster.

Boys are admitted to D, C, B and A blocks (Grade 9 -12) only if a place becomes available. Entry is determined by previous academic performance, a personal interview with the Rector, and a confidential report from the applicant's Headmaster.

Scholarship Programme

Michaelhouse provides a range of merit-based scholarships for students of outstanding academic, musical and sporting ability. These are awarded to boys entering Michaelhouse in E Block (Grade 8) and are based upon the applicant's school record and performance in the scholarship examination.

All scholarship awards are valid for the five-year duration of a boy's career at Michaelhouse, subject to an acceptable performance being maintained.

Endowed Scholarships are awarded as and when available. Internal Academic Scholarships are awarded annually to current pupils and are valid for a period of one year.

Registration

Registration may be completed at any time from the applicant's birth onwards, and preferably before the end of his Grade 6 year. During the Grade 6 year, the registered applicant and his parents are required to visit Michaelhouse for a tour of the school and an interview with the Rector.
